Louie Psihoyos

The Greek-American photographer and documentary filmmaker Louie Psihoyos first made a serious name for himself with the award-winning 2009 documentary on the Japanese dolphin hunting practices, The Cove. Psihoyos followed this up in 2015 with Racing Extinction, a documentary that examines the mass extinction of species and how scientists, journalists and activists are documenting it. The extinction of species is happening at a faster rate than it has for 66 millions years, and humans are at the centre of the problem. Psihoyos highlights the causes of this Anthropocene Extinction through the documentary, and it’s essential viewing for anyone who underestimates the negative impact humanity is having on all life on earth.
